2007 Honda Superbike Classic Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama

April 2007

I make it a point to hit the AMA races at Barber Motorsports Park each year.  Typically the weather is good, the facility is beautiful, and this is about the closest race to where I live.  As usual we had a great time and met up with some cool people to enjoy the action.  The weather couldn't have been better this year with highs in the mid 70s with lots of sun.  Here's some photography I shot of the event.

HRC's pit.

Erion Honda's pit.

Spies taking a break during superbike practice.

Kenny Roberts Sr. could be found in the pit area as well.

Ben Bostrom stopped to sign a few autographs.

The Dunlop guys taking it easy.

This is the vendor area otherwise known as squid row.

There were tons of bikes parked all over the place.

Here is Honda's HRCA areas.  HRCA members received a free small bottle of Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish, a small commemorative VFR pin, and some snacks.  The viewing area overlooks turn 15 and on to the straight.  Unfortunately turns 14 and 14a were not visible and were reserved for Honda employees (which I thought was better viewing).  Surprisingly the only snotty people we came into contact at the entire race were at the Honda tent.  I guess you don't "meet the nicest people" on Honda's anymore.

Here's the opening in turn 2 of Superbike race 2.

Duhamel battling it out with Aaron Yates and Tommy Hayden.

Unfortuneately for Honda, the Yoshimura Team's GSXR1000s ran off with the race, however it was a very good battle between Mladin and Spies.

They don't call Spies "Elbows" for nothing.
