2006 Indianapolis Dealer Show

February 2006

I had the opportunity to attend a closed to the public dealer show this year.  These shows are a HUGE gathering for manufacturers and distributors to meet with dealers to showcase new products for the upcoming year and build business relationships.  My local dealer salesman, professional racer, and good friend Matt McCord and I braved the snowy weather in my trusty 4WD 4Runner and made the 5 hour drive from Nashville, TN to Indianapolis, IN.  We only hit a few spots of snow through KY, but once in Indianapolis the temperatures were bitter cold at 2 degrees F.  Once at the show, we browsed the complex for 8 hours and still couldn't see everything.  You just can't imagine how many cool products there are to see and learn about from the various manufacturers.  Between all the cool products on display and the very attractive umbrella girls, it quickly becomes a case of sensory overload for a motorcycle enthusiast.  Without further ado, here are some photographs I took while at the show.

Sara and Stacy were two of the Repsol umbrella girls I had the pleasure of meeting at the show.  They are both avid motorcycle enthusiasts and Stacy actually owns a Honda 600RR that she takes to the track at Buttonwillow!  Both were great conversationalists, intelligent, friendly, and beautiful.  Sara is a professional model.  You can check out her website at www.mysarawalker.com

Stacy seemed so comfortable at the show I assumed she was a professional model as well.  You should have seen the look on my face when she told me she actually owns a Farmers Insurance Agency in CA and that this was her first show. I'd have never known had she not told me.  A jack of all trades it seems.

A mini Repsol.  I'd kill myself on this thing.

This "GP" style exhaust seemed to be the new thing at the show.  This Micron unit is on a 2006 R6.

More "GP exhaust on the 2006 GSXR 600.  This is by Yoshimura.  Note the majority of the can is under the bike.

Here's my buddy Matt drooling over the 2006 GSXR 600.  His race bike is a 2005 model so he had a particular interest here.

Suzuki's 2006 M109 named after the number of cubic inches in the motor (109).

This was a Victory concept bike on display at the show called the Victory Vision 800.  It's got an automatic transmission with no clutch or foot lever.

This was a very interesting motorcycle called the MotoCzysz.  It's a prototype being introduced by an American company to compete in MotoGP.  The motor's design is what makes it so unique as it's totally balanced to virtually eliminate gyroscopic and torque effects.  The motor is only 6.5" wide, which is the same width as the rear tire!

Here was one that struck me as odd.  Take an $18K R1 LE and slap some D&D pipes on it????

Custom cruisers were also prevalent at the show.

This abomination was at one time a Hayabusa.  If that isn't bad enough in and of itself, someone went and modified it into a four wheeler.  I was baffled.

Ms. Liquid Horsepower and yours truly.

Finally, some of the gals at the show had their bods air brushed to look like clothing.  This artist was very talented.

This is another one of the air brushed girls at the show.  Her shorts are actually not shorts at all, but air brushed art.  I felt like a perv looking at her so closely, but I just couldn't believe how real they looked all the way down to the fraying material.
