Hurst 6 Speed Short Throw Shifter Install

I never really had issue with the stock 6 speed shifter in the Challenger. I liked the pistol grip styling, and while the shifts were a little "smooth" shall we say, I never had problems missing gears. However, a good deal on a Hurst Shifter came along so I decided to give it a go. You can re-use your stock shift handle if you so choose, and the ability to have some variety was another factor that appealed to me on this modification. For now I'm using the Hurst classic white ball and chrome stick handle.

Installation is pretty easy. Plan on about 1.5 hours if you take your time. Below is the video I shot of how to do the install. Shifts are MUCH firmer than stock, shorter, and the shifter looks good. All in all a nice upgrade.

For this modification you'll need:

Ratchet

12" ratchet extension

8, 10, and 13mm sockets

10mm crescent wrench

1/2" crescent wrench

Torque wrench

7/32nds hex allen wrench

Phillips screw driver

Dash Pry Tools

Blue Loctite

Magnetic pickup tool (recommended but not required)
